Hi there,
Saw your post on my blog. We have lived in Okinawa over a year now. It's a subtropical island so we are able to go swimming, diving, snorkeling pretty much year round. It's a hot spot for divers! My husband is a diver and you can dive at spots all over the island. The coral reefs are quite beautiful here, although due to overfishing and pollution, some of the reef is starting to die. If you have the opportunity, I would recommend a trip. Okinawa is very different from mainland Japan, so it's worth a trip.
